Cybercriminals – A person or a team of people who use technology to attempt to break into your home network or computer to steal your personal data.

Cybersecurity – The practice of protecting your online data and computer systems from attacks by cybercriminals.

Multi-factor Authentication – A Login requiring two or more methods of verification. Examples are logging in with a username and password, followed by needing to enter a security code sent to your phone.

Spoof – To transmit false telecom data to fool the recipient into thinking a call is from someone that it’s not. For example, you receive a call that looks like it is from a family member but is in fact a cybercriminal transmitting false phone identification data over the phone network.

Two-factor Authentication – Same as multi-factor authentication but referring specifically to only two methods.

YubiKey – A small physical device that can be used for two-factor authentication. Ie. instead of using your phone to receive and enter a code to log in to Apple, you could use a YubiKey.
